New OCR is a new free online OCR service. OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition which is used to analyze the text in any image file uploaded by the user. The text which is extracted from the image is converted into .doc or .txt files which can easily be edited.
This online tool can be used for both image files (JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, multipage TIFF) and multipage PDF documents. The maximum size for image files which can be uploaded for recognition is 5 MB while for PDF documents the size should not exceed 20 MB.
The process of using this online service is extremely simple.
1. Browse the image/PDF file on your computer.
2. Chose the language of the document.
3. The document can be rotated 180 degrees or counterclockwise/clockwise by 90 degrees to suit your requirements.
4. Click the Send File Tab.
5. Download the created text file or Word document which is an option available to the service user.
The biggest advantage of this new tool is that it supports 29 languages with no restriction on the number of uploads. The user does not have to waste any time in the cumbersome sign-up or registration process.
However, the tool has a long way to go in terms of performance. The only two output file format options available are word and text file which limits the popularity of this online utility. For now, the users can enjoy this hassle free online utility with the available choices.
